The Listen Project Foundation

“The forms of snowflakes and faces of flowers may take on their shape because they are responding to some sound in nature.  Likewise, it is possible that crystals, plants, and human beings may be, in some way, music that has taken on visible form.”
Cathie E. Guzzetta

The Listen Project began filming intimate performances of musicians and other artists in 2010 for a documentary series in Japan, and now has amassed a library of hundreds of hours of film, audio and still photographs from 30 countries and over 100 artists.

Few will ever get the chance to see these artists this up close and personal.  The magic and authenticity of The Listen Project performances resonates across genres and borders.  Viewing sparks discussion of culture, geography, and personal expression.

We pick musicians we love, and they can feel our awe. We take our artists seriously, documenting their work with care and artistry to showcase the unique experiences they create.  And the process, from being chosen to being filmed, often inspires powerful performances reaching new dimensions of creativity, expressiveness, & excellence.

In late 2017, The Listen Project Foundation was formed as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Our mission is three-fold:  a) continuing to discover and document musicians and cultural performances throughout the world; b) providing support to our musicians in a variety of ways, and promulgating their work; and c) making this precious material available to every audience that would benefit or to whom it would be of interest.

To these ends, the Foundation seeks partners & collaborators. Be it a TV program, concert, festival or university workshop, a coffee table book, a documentary screened in a theater, providing supplemental curriculum material for classrooms, or a streaming playlist, The Listen Project Foundation will be exploring ways to share this growing body of work with the people of our planet.
